Cheryl Heinrichs was a sustainable architect before sustainable architecture was cool.
Since earning a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Kansas in 1989, Heinrichs has designed with sustainability in mind for prestigious architectural firms in Minneapolis, Minnesota; Cambridge and Newton, Massachusetts; and Bend, Oregon. Her enthusiasm for sustainable architecture and modern home design excellence led to the launch of Cheryl Heinrichs Architecture in 1995.
An equally strong commitment to community led to a year-long volunteer position with Bend Area Habitat for Humanity, where she led the construction of affordable homes throughout Central Oregon. Continuing to support Habitat, she served on their High Density Housing Committee and Board of Directors. She also served on the Shevlin Commons and Old Mill District Design Review Committees, as well as other Boards, Associations & Committees.
Heinrichs’ innovative modern home designs have been published in Progressive Architecture magazine and Oregon Home’s Green Living magazine, among others. She is known for award-winning modern home designs that capture attention with elegant solutions, complementary finishes, and impeccable detailing.
